I’m happy to say that [tag]pocketSand[/tag] is now available for download!
This build is still a development version, so you could expect some bugs coming up: also, you are encouraged to report any malfunction.
The installer is a Windows-desktop one: once launched, the usual “Add/Remove” programs window of the WindowsCE manager will appear and you should just follow the on-screen instructions.
Download pocketSand v0.8dev
Download pocketsand_v0.8dev (.cab)
(WM2003/2003SE/2005 only)
NOTE
If you are having any problems running it, please contact me at _manuel_.bua@bit-fire.com (be sure to remove the underscores thing) attaching the game-generated logfile called aqua_log.txt in the game’s folder.
2006/11/07 UPDATE
With the help of some helpful people i’m trying to address a VGA issue that exhibits a severe stylus misalignment (Dell Axim x50v/x51v are the most reported devices): stay tuned for updates.
2006/11/08 UPDATE
A .cab file has been provided.
Also, VGA and misalignment issues should be resolved in the next version.

November 7th, 2006 at 5:07 1Wow, this is friggin sweet.. too bad it’s not perfect - the touchscreen alignment is way off, but it does work (but it’s not exactly useable when the alignment is off by a ton (say I put the stylus in the top left corner, the actual action will happen somewhere near the center of the screen)

Is your PDA a VGA one?I just read your mail ;)
@lvlolvlo
Yes, you are right, a .cab is better than the .exe ;)

November 11th, 2006 at 0:19 7Great News! But will the WM2003SE VGA devices benefit from your hard work as well?
Thanks so much for this awesome app, I look forward to a working version for my x50v, let me know if you need the logfile, and I will send along!

November 11th, 2006 at 0:34 8Almost all devices should benefit from the new build, QVGA or VGA: this build changed detection method for VGA displays and should also run fine on WM5 devices.
Also thank you for being available for feedback!

August 21st, 2007 at 11:08 15Hey Manuel,
This software is great! Seriously! I have spent hours playing with this little beauty. Can I ask, do you have more fun software like this for ppc? Also, you know how when BLUE (water) meets RED (fire) it creates GREY (condensation)? What can be done with condensation? Does it react with anything?
Mate, GREAT program. Please reply to me email piers888 [at] gmail [dot] com

August 21st, 2007 at 11:26 16Hey Piers,
happy you like pocketSand!
Unfortunately i’ve no time currently to continue development on the ppc platform, but i hope to get more in future.
As for the water+fire interaction, yes it generates condensation and it can be used to make plants grow: just create a dome construction where condensation particles will group together and after a while they just become water, dripping to the bottom where you’ll have placed some green ;)

September 13th, 2007 at 22:53 17Hi Manuel. Had a play with this on a friends PPC, amazing program! Althoug I’ve tried to install it onto my Dell Axim x30, it installs but doesn’t play, the title just flickers and disappears. Is this a known bug? Can anything be done to fix? It’s running WM2003SE…
Cheers,
Nick

December 11th, 2007 at 19:49 18Manuel, do you know Burning Sand?
This is a sand game for the PC, and is like you version but moddable.
This mean we can add elements and interactions.
Do you think you will one day update this pocketsand, because it is awesome, but need some more functionnality to be endless.
We trying to make a sand game in Basic4PPC, what language you use for yours?
Thanks and great job you did !
